A sign of disapproval toward the Council of Magic and the established magical institutions, their teachings, bans, and various restrictions, the title of rogue mage carries complex meaning.

A rogue mage is not inherently evil; many simply disagree with the Council’s regulations and prefer to practice magic on their own terms, without submitting to its laws. However, some rogue mages pose a greater threat and are best not left unchecked, as they may harbor ulterior motives, or worse, seek the destruction of the current magical system entirely.
